The story behind KCC
For five years Howard & Zola have been operating their Tilwinda B&B and have
often received requests to accommodate families, groups, workers or longer stay
guests. Whilst being able to accept many of these requests we felt a larger and
more independent accommodation facility would better cater for these needs.
After
a long search a pretty little 3 bed roomed cottage close to the Botanic Gardens,
Railway Station, Swimming Pool and the shopping precinct came on to the market.
We thought it would be ideal accommodation so we purchased the property and
now call it Kyneton Country Cottage.
An extensive refit supervised by an Interior Designer included :-
- Painting all the bedrooms, hall and the lounge

- Installing new window coverings to all the bedrooms and the lounge
- New light fittings throughout
- New beds and mattresses and linen
- New fridge and microwave
- Individually created wardrobes to compliment the bedroom decor
- Coordinated soft furnishings such as bed accessories and cushions
- Art work
- Extending the Hydronic heating to the bedrooms, lounge and, importantly,
the bathroom
- Split system air-conditioning to the living and dining area.
The cottage was most likely built around the time of the first World War with
various changes and additions occurring
over the last 90 years or so. The original front of the house provides the
bedrooms and the lounge, a modern extension at the back has the living and
dining area, and the modern kitchen and bathroom.
All the character of a bygone era can be seen in the stained wood doors,
picture rails, fireplaces, ornate plaster ceilings and Castlemaine slate paving.
All modern comforts and conveniences are catered for in the modern heating
and cooling, bathroom and kitchen and light filled living and dining area.
We feel we have created a unique, interesting, convenient and most
comfortable place to stay when you visit Kyneton. We hope you will agree.
